5月30日，“微信已读功能”话题引发关注。有网友表示，如果上线了这个功能，会很尴尬的，也有网友称很担忧。腾讯公司公关总监张军在微博回复，“不明白为何总有人反反复复地创造“如果”，前两天所谓朋友圈访客功能，也是缘起“如果”。我甚至怀疑，有同学在特意反复翻炒流量。”记者注意到，在2023年，张军发微博称，“已读”功能会增加信息接受者的心理负担和社交压力。
