With decades of experience in marine science, water quality monitoring, and community engagement, Cavanaugh is eager to bring new energy to safeguarding the Caloosahatchee River and its watershed. He has consistently worked at both local and federal levels to promote clean water policies and protect critical habitats. With a Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, Cavanaugh possesses extensive knowledge of the region’s water challenges. His collaborative spirit and hands-on approach position him well to develop Calusa Waterkeeper’s mission further. Charles Avery, President of the Calusa Waterkeeper board, believes that Cavanaugh’s "experience, knowledge, and passion for Southwest Florida’s waters will be invaluable."
