公开资料显示，钱进拥有丰富的外交工作履历，此前曾任中国驻纽约总领馆副总领事、发言人等职。
目前，外交部新闻司司长为毛宁，副司长共四位，分别是蒋小燕、林剑、郭嘉昆、钱进。
