5月16日，ATP罗马大师赛1/4决赛，头号种子辛纳6-0、6-1横扫鲁德，晋级四强。赛后，鲁德接受了采访。
鲁德说：“老实说感觉并没有那么糟糕，尽管我输了，但你看着扬尼克会想：‘这XX简直是另一个水平的比赛。’ 我不知道还能说什么，亲眼见证这一切也算是一种享受。”
“当然，我希望这是一场更接近的比赛。我希望我能给球迷一场更长、更接近的比赛。我想我已经准备好了，但他只是准备得更充分。我无法用更好的球来应对辛纳的出色表现，这就是比赛中所发生的。”
