US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recently ordered modifications to a room next to the Pentagon press briefing room to retrofit it with a makeup studio that can be used to prepare for television appearances, multiple sources told CBS News.
《国会山报》称，五角大楼发言人证实了这一消息，但称“休息室主要更换了部分家具，包括一把导演椅、一面化妆镜和一盏补光灯，所有物品均来自现有库存”，“涉及台面由华盛顿总部服务处设施服务局内部加装建造。”
"Most of the changes in the Green Room were furniture modifications — a director's style chair, mirror, and a makeup light — all of which were added from existing inventories," a Defense Department spokesperson told The Hill.

《国会山报》提到，CBS称此番翻新耗资数千美元，但五角大楼在X上对此予以否认。美国防部官员们说，他们在对空间进行改造时秉持了节俭原则。
“在此次升级改造过程中，我们刻意选择保守路线，选用成本较低、有现成材料的解决方案，旨在为部长和其他要员提供所需支持和空间，以便他们在镜头前进行新闻发布相关活动。”上述发言人补充说。
CBS News reported that the refurbishment cost several thousand dollars, which the Pentagon denied in a post on the social platform X. Officials said they were modest when making the changes to the space. "For this upgrade we were deliberately conservative and opted for several less expensive, on-hand material solutions that provide the Secretary and other VIPs the needed support and space for on-camera press engagements," the spokesperson added.
报道提到，这一消息曝光后，部分民主党人迅速在X平台上发帖讽刺赫格塞思。
亚利桑那州联邦参议员发了张施瓦辛格在电影《铁血战士》中涂抹黑色迷彩的动图，并配文称，“这才是我们国防部长唯一该化的妆。”

还有民主党众议员表示，“赫格塞思一再使用私人电话泄露正在进行的军事行动，这是玩忽职守，现在又在浪费纳税人的钱。在五角大楼搞化妆室对军队有什么帮助？他应该辞职。”
此次改造计划曝光之际，赫格塞思正陷入“信号门2.0”。多家外媒4月20日曝光其所涉另一桩“信号门”事件，指认他除在一名记者“误入”的美国国家安全高官群聊中分享打击也门胡塞武装方案外，还在一私人群聊中几乎同步分享了相同信息。群聊中有他的妻子、弟弟和私人律师。部分民主党人要求其引咎辞职，但特朗普核心圈层仍在支持赫格塞思。
The modifications to the space come as Hegseth has found himself at the center of another scandal regarding the use of Signal to share attack plans. He was first criticized last month for sharing sensitive information via the encrypted app when a journalist was inadvertently added to a group chat with top Trump officials. Some Democrats have called on him to resign, but those in President Trump's orbit have largely held steady in their support for the former morning show host.
