2月12日，有政府背景的保险商日本贸易保险（NEXI）表示，如果日本钢铁企业和贸易公司因为最新的关税而面临美国买家取消合同，则其将就损失的部分业务支付补偿。该保险商称，在特朗普第一任期内，金属关税上调之后也提供了同样的救济措施。
