China has all along opposed moves to overstretch the concept of national security or politicize trade and tech issues, and China will firmly protect the lawful rights and interests of Chinese companies, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Thursday.

Guo made these remarks in response to a relevant media question concerning the blocking of access to DeepSeek by some government departments in the Republic of Korea.
Guo pointed out that the Chinese government attaches great importance to data privacy and security and protects it in accordance with the law.
"We have never asked and will never ask any company or individual to collect or store data against laws." Guo said. (By Ma Ziqian/China Youth Daily)
