石宇奇1/8决赛的对手是中国香港名将伍家朗，在早些时候结束的另一场1/16决赛中，伍家朗2-1艰难战胜法国小将拉尼尔。拉尼尔在此前结束的日本公开赛中夺冠，此番韩国公开赛遭遇一轮游。
