属于一个支持巴勒斯坦民间组织的数十名民主党代表21日晚开始，在美国民主党全国代表大会会场外彻夜静坐。原因是他们要求一名巴勒斯坦裔美国公民在大会上发言，并与民主党方面就此进行了数周谈判，但民主党方面最终还是拒绝了这一要求。该组织的联合创建者、民主党代表阿巴斯·阿维和其他代表决定一直静坐抗议，直到当地时间22日晚大会结束。
