缪嘉蕙，字素筠，昆明人。她自幼聪颖端淑，生性勤奋好学，通书史，能弹琴，善篆隶，工书画。其小楷秀健俊逸超凡脱俗；绘画以翎毛、花卉为佳，深受明末清初大画家恽南田、邹一桂的影响。她的《翎毛》与《花卉》两幅作品曾被两江总督张之洞作为“贡品”晋献给皇宫，享有“女红艺杰”之美誉。
