据央视新闻，11月27日，香港特区政府食物环境卫生署食物安全中心宣布，根据日本农林水产省通报，日本佐贺县暴发高致病性H5禽流感，中心立即指示业界暂停从该地区进口禽肉及禽类产品（包括禽蛋），以保障香港公众健康。
中心发言人说，根据政府统计处的资料，今年前9个月香港从日本进口约1080吨冷藏禽肉及约2亿只禽蛋。
