照片中的他穿着一件黑色马褂，看起来精神还不错，坐在他身旁的人是他的妻子杨子烈，正拉着小孙子的手。后排的人是他们的儿子张海威、张湘楚，以及两个儿媳。
1979年，张国焘的一生走到了终点，因为他特殊历史身份，至死都没能再踏上家乡土地。
