近期有推主发现，开发商Undead Labs美工Nora Shramek的Art Station个人资料页面显示，《腐烂国度3》将于2027年发布。该消息曝出不久后，Shramek删除了相关信息。
《腐烂国度2》于2018年推出，目前仍在更新。如果《腐烂国度3》2027年发售的传闻为真，那么两部作品的间隔将长达近10年，就像《死亡岛》和《死亡岛2》一样。
Xbox Game Studios的老板Matt Booty在5月接受采访时表示，他“谨慎地相信”像《腐烂国度3》这样的游戏会在未来18个月内取得新进展，让我们拭目以待。
