第二次，公元220年，投靠曹丕公元219年（建安二十四年），孟达从秭归北攻房陵，房陵太守蒯祺为达兵所害。房陵被攻下后继续进攻上庸，刘备私下担心孟达难以独当一面，于是命刘封自汉中乘沔水下统领孟达的军队，与孟达会合于上庸地。
