1932年，日本制造一 二八事变，驻守在上海的十九路军奋起抗战，这就是淞沪抗战。
照片拍摄于淞沪抗战期间，当时商务图书馆遭日寇轰炸，发生了大火，五名中国士兵在轰炸后的废墟里抵抗日寇的进攻，其中三个人在射击，两人在准备投弹。从照片中可以看出，战斗非常激烈。
