据央视新闻，12月19日，大陆赠台大熊猫“团团”的病理解剖报告出炉，确认“团团”大脑罹患“肥胖细胞型星形胶质细胞瘤”。这是一种原发性脑瘤，也是造成“团团”癫痫的原因。
11月19日，大陆赠台大熊猫“团团”在台北市立动物园因病情恶化离世，当天进行了病理解剖工作，并将采样组织送验。
