日期
如果只知道date是“约会”的意思，很容易产生误会。
比如人家问你：What s the date today?
如果理解错，那肯定翻译成“今天什么约会”，但人家问的是“今天几号”...
例：

我们得为下次会议定个日期。
注明日期
date还做动词，表示“注明日期”。
例：
Make sure you sign and date it at the bottom.
一定要在底下签上姓名和日期。
椰枣
没错，date还有椰枣的意思。
例：
Dates are full of nutrition.
椰枣富含营养。
过时的
date用作不及物动词，还有“过时，不流行”的意思。
例：
His novels seem scarcely to date at all.
他的小说似乎丝毫没有过时。
还要注意的是，不是所有的“约会”，都能用date表达！
用Date表示“约会”，表达含义是你和亲密的人之间的约会，而且一般指的是情侣或者夫妻之间的约会。
而朋友、同事之间一般用Hang out来表示有约，当然Hang out也表示闲逛。

如果他某个瞬间吸引了你，就尝试date；
