游戏葡萄12月12日消息，《任天堂明星大乱斗》发售首个周末里，日本区销量达到130万份。
Fami通初步估计，游戏自12月7日发售后的第一个周末里，销量超过130.3万份，是近期热门游戏《精灵宝可梦 Let’s Go》首个周末里销量的两倍（《精灵宝可梦 Let’s Go》发售后首个周末里销量是66.4198万份），也远超其他热门作品，如《超级马里奥：奥德赛》（51.4万份）和《Splatoon 2》（63.1万份）。
同时，这也是同系列游戏日区销量新高。前作《任天堂明星大乱斗》3DS版和《任天堂明星大乱斗》乱斗版在上架首周分别卖出98.7239万份和81.6198万份。
